Program Overview The CISSP credential certifies student expertise in ten different knowledge domains and key areas of knowledge as outlined in the Candidate Information Bulletin (CIB) effective date - January 1, 2012. CISSP certification is developed and maintained by (ISC)square, a not-for-profit leader in educating and certifying information security professionals throughout their careers. CISSP is aimed at professionals who develop policies and procedures in information security. The CISSP was the first credential in the field of information security, accredited by the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Standard 17024:2003. It certifies knowledge in the following ten domains Access Control Telecommunications and Network Security Information Security Governance and Risk Management Software Development Security Cryptography Security Architecture and Design Operations Security Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning Legal, Regulations, Compliance and Investigations Physical (Environmental) SecurityTarget Audience The audience profile for the CISSP certification is mid-and senior-level managers who are working toward or have already attained, positions as CISOs, CSOs or Senior Security Engineer and those individuals who develop policies and procedures in information security. Prerequisites Candidates for the exam are expected to have a minimum of five years direct full-time security work experience in two or more of the 10 CISSP domains or four years if they hold a four-year college degree or advanced degree in information security from a U. S. National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Security (CAE / IAE) or regional equivalent.
