November 6, 2017
“Only the very weak-minded refuse to be influenced by literature and poetry.”
― Cassandra Clare
Vihaan Goyal, 24 years of age, is a poet, actor, and a storyteller. Always a fitness enthusiast, Vihaan moved to Mumbai from Delhi a couple of years ago. He has worked in several TV shows and took poetry writing and reciting as a way to put this thoughts into words. An introvert by nature, Vihaan believes in the power of poetry and wanted to spread the word against the social stigmas present around us.
His recent videos are doing exceptionally well on all the social media platforms. He is a patronage of hard work and his wonderful work speaks for himself. This man has a conviction in his eyes that no other man does and the words of Dheeraj Pandey are just like magic and are sure to guide you home. They both have worked really hard to reach at the place where they are now and now every video of Bol Poetry is destined to have several million views. The kind of efforts and conviction they’ve put in the concept of all their videos is extremely overwhelming and gives you the right kind of feels everytime you watch their video or hear those magical and inspiring lines.
“Kya tum samajhti ho”, “Mera ego kyun hurt ho jaata h”, “Kehti h tum dost ho!”, “Tumhe us angle se nahi dekha” and “Maan lo tum aurat ho” are their recent and highly popular videos which are meaningful, impactful and strong.
1) What sparked your creative interest towards storytelling?
Stories and tales have always been a fascination for me throughout my childhood. Right from the bedtime stories at home and the kindergarten poems to the last book I read, everything has a story behind it. It all comes down to how well that story is played out to the world. That is exactly what fascinated me to this world of poem and story-telling.
2) You are a storyteller, model and an actor. How do you manage all of them together ?
I think, some way or the other – all of the fields are some way related to each other. Each one is about depicting a story in it’s own way. A photo in modelling, a scene in acting and a poem in storytelling – all serves the same purpose, ie. to depict the person’s message to the audience out there.
3) More than 15 million+ views on your first video so far is an epic achievement. What are your thoughts about this?
When this poem was in it’s initial stage, the aim was never to reach it to any specific number of audience. Even one soul touched is an achievement in itself. The main aim was to get the message out about a part of the society, which is often neglected. It’s all people’s love, that we reached out to so many people in such a short span. We are grateful to every single person, who has loved us so much, shared our work, and even had positive criticism towards it. It only helps to get better with our next work.
4) Who is your inspiration behind starting up Bol Poetry ? Who inspired you to start this venture?
Bol Poetry is not an overnight success story. We have been performing in the Mumbai circuit for a very long time. Our first video uploaded came after months of experience in the same. Dheeraj Pandey – the writer, behind all the amazing work, had left no stone unturned to make sure Bol Poetry makes an impact on each of it’s follower.
5) After “Kya tum samajhti ho”, “Mera ego kyun hurt ho jaata h”, “Kehti h tum dost ho!”, “Tumhe us angle se nahi dekha” and “Maan lo tum aurat ho”, what are your upcoming plans ?
We are taking a break from the online world for now – with all the offline events lined up for the next few weeks. We make sure the poems – we work on have a social message behind them. As an artist, you have certain responsibility towards the society. Our next work will definitely be something around it.
6) Vihaan a memorable moment you would like to share with us ?
There have been many moments, that are close to my heart. But, if I have to choose one favourite moment, it would be, when “Kya Tum Samajhti Ho” released and couple of weeks later, I was at a cafe with my team and we overheard our lines playing on some device around us. We saw a grandma and her granddaughter (in her 30’s probably), watching our video, right next to our table. Unknown to the fact that, we were sitting right besides them. It was very refreshing to see – how people react to your video on real-time basis. So, as soon as the video ended, we overheard how the grandma telling her granddaughter, how it feels to be in a husband’s shoes and there needs to be open conversation between the couple to balance a happy married life. The fact that they both could relate and someone gets the message – we were going out for – is a bliss.
