What developed your interest in this field?

I always wanted to be in something like dance or sports. I always wanted fame in these streams. So then I found this sport that has always been about me and my passion.

How you received support from your surroundings? How was your initial struggle?

Let me tell you how I got into it. I was selected for archery team in my school in the 7th std. I did it just for the sake of it initially. Later, it became something I know is a part of me. Something that gave me my worth, made me feel worth. This game is a huge investment and no returns kind of a sport. So it has always been a struggle when it comes to finances. But my mom dad never let it come on me. They have been doing all they can.

As an Archer, what do you feel is most essential for best Archery?

As an Archer, basically a stable mind and physical strength is a must. And like every other sport, passion and dedication is what gets you your achievements. One thing I have learnt all this while is love your equipment and it will love you back.

Can you share the experience of your State Level Tournament of Archery? Were you stressed up during that time?

I am a person who overreacts to everything. So for me getting stressed is the first thing that happens. But before every competition, mostly a night before to an hour before my competition, I am always pumped up. But when I reach the venue, it all turns scary. So same goes for my state competition too. This wasn’t my first state competition. I have been in this sports for almost 6 years now. But I had changed my club(practice place and coaching) before this competition. This new surrounding gave out really positive and good vibes. My teammates also were from this club. It was my first competition with them but they were great support. One of my colleague, made me believe that these years which I had spent in this sport were an investment. I know team medals aren’t valued much but it matters to me.

What do you feel? How’s the condition of Archers in our country? Is India focusing on this field of sport sufficiently?

This is one thing I can’t ever stop bragging about. Thanks to Deepika Kumari people in India know about her. I openly challenge you to ask people about Atanu Das. No one would know him. I don’t compare Archery to other sports but I want it to get a name it deserves. It is very tough for us players to find scholarships. The individual sports does not get support as compared to football and cricket. I don’t blame the people. Only achievements can get Archery and other such sports recognized. It’s still better now that people are developing interest in Archery. Just a small wish, the ones who are interested in Archery have to struggle through the net to find matches to watch. I just want them to be aired like cricket and football matches.

So lastly are you looking forward to Nationals and how you are preparing yourself for this?

Yes, I’m looking forward not only to qualify for nationals but also for being up that podium. I have started building up my strength, increased my practice timings. And properly managing my studies with it. Changed my diet so I can be able to juggle between things.
