Mohini Sikarwar’s Interview
Q. When and how singing occurred to you and you decided this is the something you want to pursue in the long run?
A. I was in Class 6th when for the first time when I sang in front of a wide audience . It was the Sports Day in my school and I sang The National Anthem. From there my singing journey began and people started appreciating my voice quality and talent. It was all because of the encouragement and support from my friends, family and teachers that I realized singing is something I can do in the long run.
Q. I am in awe of your sweet voice and at such a young age you are achieving so much, so what are your future plans?
A. Firstly, thank you so much for the beautiful compliment. Actually, music is my life and I would to love to make my career in it. I understand the fact that I am very young to think about becoming a Professional Singer but for me it is my childhood dream and passion for above all. I am doing very well in my academics as well and plan on making my mark there as well. I want to do well in both the areas of my life right now.
Q. What kind of genre of songs you prefer? Who is your motivation and idol for the same?
A. I like soft songs and folk songs as well. My inspiration is the very talented Sonu Nigam Sir as his early journey with music relates with mine. He sings all his songs with such perfection and poised attitude that you really want to listen to him everyday long. I admire all his songs and I want to make a name in Bollywood like him.
Q. You won the national lead singer award in 2015. What are your feelings about it and how did you prepare for it ?
A. It was the best thing that has ever happened to me yet, the feeling cannot be explained in words. Going in a different state and wowing the audience with my talent was out of this world. The best part was when i finished my performance and everybody there gave me a standing ovation and applauded me for my performance. This kind of appreciation is every singer’s dream and I have lived it at such a young age. This fills me with wonder and gratitude. I prepared really hard for this and practiced with all my might to give my best there.
Q. What all difficulties did you faced and who all were your supporters throughout ?
A. There were so many difficulties actually and even now I’m facing many problems. My family is not much supportive for this field as they want me to become independent by doing well in my studies. Like every parents wants their child to become a (doctor, engineer etc) and I respect their thinking as well. So I’m trying best to make them happy and on the other hand I also keep my music with me that makes me happy. So all going well.
