NIT Allahabad, also known as Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad (NIT Allahabad or MNNIT), formerly Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College (MNREC), is a public higher education institute located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is one of the National Institutes of Technology, classified as an Institute of National Importance.The college has the distinction of being first in the country to start an undergraduate programme in Computer Science & Engineering in 1976-77.

Rankings

MNNIT was ranked 41 among engineering colleges by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2017. Careers360 has given it the second best rating, “AAAA+”, among engineering colleges in 2017.

Courses Offered

MNNIT offers a 4-year undergraduate course in various engineering disciplines. Indian students are admitted though Joint Entrance Examination (Main), while foreign student are admitted through Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA).

MNNIT offers 19 post-graduate programs of two-year duration leading to M.Tech. degrees.The Computer Science department offers a Masters in Computer Applications (MCA). It has a Masters course in Mathematics and Scientific Computing and a B-school known as the School of Management Studies. Master of Social Work (MSW) is also running in the institute from 2009.

Admissions in NIT Allahabad

The admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of NITSRI is done through the following ways:

Undergraduate Course (B.Tech)

• Joint Entrance Examination(JEE-Main).
• DASA (through SAT, for non-resident Indians)

Postgraduate course

• Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE)

UG Eligibility criteria in NIT Allahabad

1. The minimum academic qualification for admission is “pass” in the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, having secured pass marks in each subject.
2. Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1992 are eligible for admission in 2017-2018 session.However in case of SC, ST and PH candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years.
3. The candidate must be in good mental and physical health, and should satisfy the standard physical fitness criteria of the Institute (to be examined and certified by the Medical Officer of the Institute).
4. The candidate must appear in JEE examination and secure a rank required by the college for admission through merits.
