Photography is his one true love and life which needs no special attention to be converted into professionalism. At this young age he has been featured in newspapers, chosen among top 3 instagrammers, and a regular member of Calcutta Cacophony. Let us have Jyotirmoy in talks with us.

What is your educational background?

I did my schooling from National Gems Higher Secondary School, Kolkata. I was average in studies and I never liked studying. I wanted to do Hotel Management and become a Chef. I even sat for the exam and scored pretty well but ended up doing Engineering.

When was your first exposure to photography?

I have always loved travelling. Photographs works as memories for me. I still remember using the Film camera on family tours when I was still a kid.

I received my first digital camera after my 12th Canon Powershot SX400 IS. India Pictures meet (Calcutta Leg) was my first photo walk and I didn’t have to look back after that. That happened to be a turning point.

From when and why did you start considering yourself as a photographer?

Oh! No No. I don’t consider myself as a photographer. I just want to capture some moments to cherish. Capture some emotions and actions in frames.

Well, so do you see photography as a part of your profession?

I haven’t consider it as a profession and I don’t think I will. I do it out of love and passion. It’s an escape gate for me. A place of peace. With professionalism comes duties, with duties comes *headaches*. Photography to me is something which I can cling to and depend on for smiles.

Who were your early influences?

Well, there are a lot of people basically who has influenced me and my work. No one specific I must say. It’s a long list of people. Haha..

What is the most important, challenging and interesting part about choosing your subject.

I started with street-photography. Street Photography is capturing random incidents within public places.

I loved the textures, the roads, the colors, the people. Recently, I have been trying food photography, which I am enjoying a lot.

What type of cameras do you shoot with?

My uncle on seeing my work presented me with Canon DSLR 1100D last December and I am working with it now. Before this I was using Canon powershot SX400 IS.

Please share a few of your achievements.
