The Department of Masters in Human Resource Management, Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM), Kolkata, presents – GENESIS 2018 , the Annual Cultural and Management Festival, with two days full of fun-filled activities, events, and performances. GENESIS is a two-day fest organized by the Events committee of the students community of Indian Institute of Social Welfare And Business Management. Derived from the Greek word for Origin or Root , GENESIS accurately describes the sentiment of the work culture in the business and student community of IISWBM, being attached to the roots of their origin.
The dates for the most awaited event are 27th and 28th February 2018, the venue being, the College premises, IISWBM Kolkata.
GENESIS 2017 uniquely brought together the brightest students from different sectors in a two-day convention and turned out to be an unparalleled experience for all. The coming edition of GENESIS 2018strives to be the greatest till date. And this time we are BIGGER, BETTER and BOLDER.

Hundreds of fests are held across the country throughout the year. As an organiser how can you call Genesis a different fest from any other fest ? What is so unique about Genesis?
Genesis is the annual fest of first and oldest business school of India ” Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management ” also known as IISWBM conducted by MHRM department .Its theme for this year is “Shades of India ” Apart from being a management fest , it is a cultural fest as well with an amalgamation of culture , management and fun based events .It has flagship events IISWBM Treasure Hunt ,Case Study, Quiz . It invites competition from various top-notch universities of the country and the events also help in enhancing the knowledge in almost all fields .
How did you come up with the idea of hosting the events which will be held ? What convinced you that these were the events such an unique fest should conduct ?
Genesis has specific set of event along with flagship events like Treasure Hunt , Case Study and Quiz . It experiences huge participation from all all over India because of the influence of the University across the country . There is a large footfall of participation from most universities . Exciting prizes for the events attracts participants , and the amalgamation of culture , management skills and fun make it a “Must Particpate ” fest .

Genesis is an annual B-School Fest organised by the events committee of Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) department of the first business school of India . The driving forces of today’s world are Competition and Innovation in Management and success in both the grounds ensures effective survival of any business identity. GENESIS has always prepared a platform to foster the innovative sparks in future corporates through competitive atmosphere. GENESIS till date has uniquely brought together the brightest students and corporates from different sectors in a two-day convention and turned out to be an unparalleled learning experience for all. Every year has been a huge success and this year we aim to make it bigger , bolder and better
What are the main considerations while conducting a fest ?
Conducting is fest is not a matter of a day or a week. It takes months of planning and months of hard work . Thinking of a theme takes a long time as there are varieties of ideas. Coordination among the Organizing committee members is key to glory in a fest . For getting sponsors we need to show them our uniqueness and how it would benefit them and benefit us as well. We also need to take good care of the participation and competition .Wherever there is competition of a proper level , there will be a lot of participants and to ensure that there is a great competition is an extremely important task. Another important consideration is that we need to share and communicate every little piece of information to public via Social Media and other forms . We need to make them know of the event and the rich culture of it . Deciding the events and coordinating amongst one another is also very important . And in the end those days of the fest , they say it all. The way we coordinate , the way we deliver our plans, the way we provide hospitality and the way we stay united in times of troubles and discretion prove our success or failure at the end.
What is the major goal or mission behind the fest and how do you plan on achieving it? And how is it going to be bigger bolder n better ?
Genesis is a confluence of culture and manangement. We aim to enhance the knowledge of participants in almost all fields and also provide a platform for a huge competition . We also aim to bring out innovative talents among youngsters and provide a platform for them to showcase their talents . This time we are going with the theme ” Shades of India ”
With a huge amount of participation and great competition we aim to make it bigger , bolder and better .
