Admissions in Delhi University are on the verge of beginning. As per the lot of changes in the reservation, admission policy, entrance based exams there are a few changes as well in the admissions through the sports eligibility.

Admissions under the sports quota in the year 2017 will be based on 60% weightage to sports trials and 40% of the certificates acquired on the respective state and national level. However, admission dates are yet to be finalized and the final decision rests with the university vice-chancellor.
There will be no “fitness test” which was the usual qualifying test for sports trials. Instead, here will be a sport-specific fitness test within the centralized sports trials. All aspirants will now be eligible for the trials irrespective of whether a particular sport is available in a college or not.

According to the admission policy sports trials will include game/ sport specific fitness, fundamental skills and overall playing ability. A student to be eligible for admission must score atleast 30 out of 60 marks in the ongoing selection period.

Admissions will be made under two categories “direct and trial based“. Candidates who have represented India in mentioned sporting events on the registration form will be eligible for direct admission. Candidates have to upload a self-attested copy of the “Highest sports certificate”. Under trial-based admissions, only those certificates that were issued between 1st April 2014 and 31st March 2017 will be recognized by the university.
The university will also issue a list of the certificates/events which will be considered valid. The Delhi University Sports Council has also created a matrix for marks assigned to various certificates as well as achievements.

The Delhi University Sports Council has also created a matrix for marks assigned to various certificates as well as achievements. For example, anyone who participated in World/Asian School Games or other international competitions and stood first will get full 40 marks, followed by 39 marks and 38 marks for the second and third positions respectively and simple participation will earn 37 marks.
