In conversation with Apurva Muthe:
1) Hey! Apurva, it’s great having you on board. Tell us something more about you ?
I am Apurva Muthe, currently pursuing Bachelors in Computer Science from Weber State University, U.S.A. I am the CEO and founder of Tinker Bot. I have been into programming since the age of eight.
2) Tell us about the Kumbha Mela app you developed.
Kumbha Mela 2015, was the first official app developed for the mega event. The main concern was to help many pilgrims from all over the world. The event witnessed more than fifteen lakh visitors. The app helped the pilgrims in every possible way like finding hotels, parking spots, hospitals and many more. Some of the unique features included finding emergency services which proved helpful during that time. The app was first of its kind and later numerous local developers followed.
3) How did you started off with the idea of Tinker Bot ?
While studying at the Freshman year at the Weber State University. I was researching on artificial intelligence and chat bots with my professor. While studying there I realized that students were encouraged completely to engage themselves in learning processes which created a major impact on student’s mind to choose their own topics of interest which is absent in India creating a major loop hole. To fill this gap, I decided to create a chat bot which was available on Facebook messenger platform which ultimately expelled the need to download any third party app. I used messenger as a default platform because most of the users know how to use it.
4) What is Tinker Bot all about ?
Tinker Bot is a semi-decisional artificial intelligence based chat bot geared towards redefining education system in India. Tinker Bot works seamlessly with Facebook messenger and helps users to learn new things by chatting with it on Facebook messenger.

5) What kind of difficulties did you find during the execution of this app ?
There were multiple challenges during the execution of Tinker Bot. Some of them include societal pressure and the mindset of mediocre people around me who felt that I was wasting my life in doing stuff that doesn’t matter. But I never wished to settle for less. Our society teaches us to lead a normal life without taking any risks, but according to me it’s a very limited life. Other challenge included convincing people to use the product as no one believed a 19 year old could execute work from dorm room.
6) What is that one dose of inspiration that keeps you motivated ?
The only thing that keeps me motivated is that we have only one life and it’s completely in our hands to achieve what we had dreamed for. That’s the only thing which kicks me out of bed every morning with a new dream and expectation.
