“She begins to feel that the reality show is the university she never attended. Vicarious reality. Emotion without a value-added tax. Movement without danger. Alma finds her reality.”
Meet Akshata Sonawane born on 9 May 1996 in Panvel, Mumbai. She is 21 years old and is basically from Panvel, Mumbai who is participating in MTV Splitsvilla Season 10 for finding her true love in the villa. She participated in many modelling shows like ‘Elite Miss India Asia 2015’, ‘Face of Miss Navi Mumbai’, ‘Miss Kalanilayam 2014’ and ‘Miss Raigad Queen 2015′ where she got a position as 1st Runner up. She loves travelling and enjoys hangout with friends. MTV Splitsvilla is hosted by Ranvijay Singh and Sunny Leone.
Let’s know more about her in the following interview:
1.) We know that you have a great love for pets especially for dogs. How will you define that love?
I think love for dogs, or any animal is unconditional. It is the most pure form of love. For me, the more love I gave to Lucy (my dog), the more love was returned. I loved her like my own baby and nothing can define that kind of love.
2.) How it feels to be crowned with the title of Elite Miss India Asia ’15?
The title “Elite Miss India Asia” is a feeling of responsibility. During my reign, I’ve done anything and everything for campaigns like “Beti bachao, Beti padhao” which was a social cause of the pageant. To be crowned as a representative of India, it gives an immense proud feeling. I’m blessed and honored to have great mentors who supported and guided me throughout my journey, for I’m very young and new to this industry.
3.) How do you manage your entire Fan following along with your busy schedule?
To be absolutely honest, before Splitsvilla 10, I wasn’t much active on social media and didn’t have much of fan following. After being aired on National Television in one of the biggest Reality Show Splitsvilla, I actually understood the importance of social media handling. I was rushed with fan followers, fan clubs, messages, etc. It was beyond control, and with my hectic work schedule it was impossible to keep a track on all of it. I eventually had to hire a manager to help me handle it.

4.) Bonds are very important in someone’s life. How you choose your bond? Which qualities you prefer in choosing your friends or people in your social circle?
The most important quality I look for is understanding. Be it a family member, friend or a lover, it is very important to understand me and my lifestyle; especially because I’m at the stage where I’m transforming it towards achieving my dreams. I’m not a person who talks much or meet my friends regularly. I’m very moody and very selective. Hence, I’ve a few people who are really close to me and share a special bond and I’m blessed to have such people who are really understanding about the big changes in my life.
5.) You have been both a participant as well as a judge. What would you prefer to be and why?
Be it a participant or a judge, one thing that hasn’t changed is my hunger for learning. Whether it’s participating in a pageant or a reality show or judging a show, each experience has taught me something new. I see myself as a conqueror. Therefore, being a judge is a proud feeling. I’d prefer being on the other side of the table more.
6.) Smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. What were the difficulties and tough times you had gone through in your career so far?
I come from a family where modeling or acting isn’t considered a stable career. My family wasn’t familiar of any such things I’m into. The entire procedure of making them understand and convincing them was the biggest difficulty I’ve faced. Even now, it has been difficult to seek permission for outdoor events, given that they’re a little conservative. Though, over the time period, they’ve been supporting me better and I’m thankful for that.
7.) Akshata you are a basketball player, have knowledge in web designing and computer languages, how did you shifted to choose Modeling as your career?
I was in college when I started participating in pageants and shooting for brands. I started earning at a very young age of 19. I was intrigued by this magical field of modeling. Posing, ramp walk and facing the camera was exciting, challenging and refreshing. Though, I still haven’t left education entirely. I’m preparing for further studies simultaneously. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s from SIES Nerul, Navi Mumbai. St. Mary’s High School, Vashi, Navi Mumbai served as my high school Alma mater.
8.) There are lot teenagers who come to Mumbai to perceive a career in Modeling, but not everyone is successful. What’s your message for them ?
A very practical answer to this would be to keep a backup always. You never know what may fail or how short your fame life could be. Also, until you reach your goals, one should never give up. And, one should not to depend on hopes, destiny and luck but efforts, hard work, passion and determination.
